Team Goals
Communications Node – Maintain up-to-date team list/contact information and be able to contact them in 24hr period.
Communications Node – Disseminate information, preparedness articles, monthly program meeting notes and other important information.
Communication Node – Send out disaster bulletins to team for real events, have them check in. Send disaster hazards reference guides from CERG.
Facilitate team members finding other CERTs in their neighborhood (share information, informal meetings and social gatherings).
Continue to test and develop team communications (HAM test, Zello test, FRS test).
At team member’s request, assist with outreach in their neighborhood/ homeowner association.
At team members request, Facilitate and support their specific interests (Provide training, information, track down information on their behalf).
Staff an Outreach table at Fire station house 5(Beulah) for the ‘Fire station open house’ in October each year.

Do you live within a 30 minute drive from the Franconia / Alexandria area?
We are looking for individuals who are dedicated to emergency preparedness and response within our community. We are looking to strength our team and have diversity and robust capability within those members.
We are looking for individuals who bring one or more core skill sets and a desire to learn and build capability within various other functions on the team.
Incident command team
Senior leaders to lead groups and teams.
Tabletop training in ICS 100, 200 and Wide area Search.
Running a command post as IC, practices "Management by Objective" technique.
Practices on ICS forms, ICS 201, 202, 207, 209, WAS 104, WAS 110.
Coordinates Accountability.
After Action Reports.
Planning team
Plans out meeting content.
Plans out Exercise Details.
Prepares Incident action plans (IAP) ( to include Maps, Safety messages) (use of ICS forms).
Coordinates Accountability.
Event planner
Sets meeting dates and notifications.
Coordinates meeting spaces and point of contacts.
Coordinates with logistics for resources required for meetings.
Administration team
Coordinates Team rosters and contact list (excel files and sign-in sheets).
Maintains Google group and Drive correspondence.
Contacts and checks-in with each team member (twice per year).
Coordinates user and team accounts with Apps.
Writes and editors
Write and edits preparedness articles to distribute to the team.
Write and edits Team "Emergency Alerts" , Pre-written message to be sent out to the team. (example the Hurricane Dorian message and check-in)
Write and edits "Neighborhood field operating guide".
Mapping, GIS and IT team
Creates Maps for general use.
Create Segment maps for local neighborhoods.
Operational support (remote desktop).
IT needs for meetings.
Maintains IT needs of 3rd party Apps.
Search and Rescue team
Search Specialists are responsible for the coordination and execution of the detection and location of trapped individuals as well as functions including wide area search and rapid damage assessments.
Conduct Size-up training of different types of buildings within the neighborhood/area.
Maintains skills and can lead Primary and Secondary Searches.
Maintains skills and can lead Lifts and carries.
Review different Scenarios to identify tactics and equipment needed for different events that can happen in our area.
Coordinate with 3rd party Apps and familiar with the Residential Accountability forms and Unit Logbooks.
Coordinates Hazard reduction team.
Animal and pets rescue team
Prepares plans to deal with animals in a disaster. (Identifies equipment, facilities and resources required)
Recruits Neighbors with appropriate skills.
Coordinates Care for animals during and after event.
Medical team
The medical team is responsible for care and treatment of individuals affected by the disaster event.
Has up-to-date First Aid Skills (Pressure dressing, Head to To toes, etc) and can show others what to do.
Can setup and run a medical treatment area. Maintain Medical Accountability forms.
Maybe responsible for care of the Team Responders (Coordinating with Logistics)
Training team
Participates in training the trainer (for preparation of being a trainer in future CERT basic classes).
Leads or assist in 'Core skills' training of the team (either at meetings as a skill station, or at an exercise).
Safety monitoring during training. (Safety Officers).
Logistic, Facilities, Equipment team
Coordinates with Fairfax County CERT main logistics team to get resources to our area.
Coordinate and Maintains Neighborhood and teams asset Logs. Logistic silos.
Helps setup or coordinates Facilities, Tents and Command posts.
Coordinates supplies during a disaster(Prepare lists in advanced).
Maintenance and support for equipment required in field operations , Power Generation, Chainsaw(to include operators).
Maintains Accountability of team and local residents equipment.
Communications team
Maintains Communication Plans.
Continue to test and develop team communications (HAM test, Zello test, FRS test). (Twice per year).
Collects and Maintains Communication logs.
Coordinate with the CERT county level communications team.
Local outreach team
Searches for outreach opportunities within the Alexandria/Franconia/Springfield area.
Coordinates with Fairfax county main outreach team.
Searches and maintains relationships with Homeowner associations and Faith groups.
Liaison team
Maintain relationship with Fire and Rescue stations within the area, becomes a point of contact between CERT's and the Fire departments.
Maintain relationship with Police department within the area.
Coordinates with Fairfax CERT leadership. (EOC if applicable).
Coordinate with the Red Cross.
Health and well-being
Coordinates and plans a "Walking group". (Including maps, safety forms, ICS structure)
Coordinates and plans a "Hiking group". (Including maps, safety forms, ICS structure)
Prepares and distributes Fitness and Health articles for the team.
Coordinates with Health and Safety issues.
